Course Description:

This is the first program of its kind in Kuwait that caters to visual learners. The course was designed by two Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Alumni and an Educational Expert to meet the needs of Manifesto13’s teen population. Their expertise in Design and Art Education has enabled them to fill the gap in traditional education for our pre-college students.

In this 20-hour studio course, students will learn to observe, break down, and represent the world around them as they experience it firsthand. This course will prepare students who are interested in entering the fields of Art and Design. Skills gained from this 10-week course aim to create a heightened sense of perception and develop a critical mindset. Students will also learn how to represent their work verbally and visually.

Students will work through skills that need more development, while learning to expand their unique voices and styles through a design project. Students will explore the fundamentals of art and design at a level not readily available in high school. The program is designed to challenge one’s imagination and encourage creative growth. This is ideal for High School Juniors and Seniors looking to enhance their college admissions portfolio.

The course will be mainly taught by Architect Robert Gurney, Dr. Jawaher Al Bader will be joining as needed, and Dr. Duna Al Mashaan will be facilitating pre-assigned portfolio and college preparation sessions, based on the needs of students.
